Memory
Foam- The Future of Sleep

What
is it?
Memory Foam is the post exciting addition
to materials used in the manufacture of mattress's and
pillows for a long time. Developed by NASA for astronauts
suffering G force. It was originally sold as a sleep product
in Denmark over 10 years ago and is now increasing in
sales year after year.
Benefits
and applications
Due to its conforming aspect, viscoelastic makes for a
comfortable yet supportive, mattress or mattress overlay,
and its low resilience works well in pillows. People with
limited mobility can benefit from the foam's capacity
to distribute weight and surface pressure evenly, potentially
reducing bed sores, caused by aggravated pressure between
the skin and the bone areas of the body such as beneath
heels, hops, elbows and the back of the head. If pressure
is not relieved through body movement or technology, such
as viscoelestic, blood vessels may compress, inhibiting
circulation and possibly irritating the skin tissue.
So
What are Paying for?
Memory foam is a pretro-chemical product and therefore
has a high production cost with usually only one supplier
in each country in the world. It covers in several depths
usually, 7cm(3") or 5cm(2"). This is new either
'Bonded' to a 'Foundation' foam or combined with a pocket
spring or open spring interior mattress.
The 'Foundation' element
is very very important and where 50% of the cost comes
from good underlay on a carpet ensures long term usage.
Deep fundations on a house ensures a 'Stable' building.
A good foundation supporting memory foam will give years
of service poor foundations won't!
